Arkansas Sheriff's Association awards Red Ribbon Grant to Norfork School
The Baxter County Sheriff's Office applied for and was awarded a grant for the Norfork School District from the Arkansas Sheriff's Association for "Red Ribbon Week". Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. The campaign is to help our children make a personal commitment to live drug free lives.
Red Ribbon week started in 1985 when DEA Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, died at the hands of drug traffickers while undercover in Mexico fighting the battle against illegal drugs.
Baxter County Sheriff's Office School Resource Officer Billy Cox applied for the grant and is shown here presenting the check for $1,793.25 to Norfork School Counselor Ms. Carla Dollard. Red Ribbon week will be October 23rd through the 31st, we encourage everyone to support the youth of our community in their choice to live a drug free life.
