08/23/2012

Travis Dustin Nibler

A rural Baxter County man has been arrested and charged with domestic violence crimes after deputies responded to a disturbance Wednesday afternoon at 799 CR 16.  A female victim placed a call for emergency assistance at approximately 5:55 PM, reporting she and her husband were having a physical altercation.  She reported she had fled from the residence and that while she was fleeing, she heard gunshots being fired by her husband.

Sheriff’s Corporal Kris Savino and Deputy Doug Meurer responded.  They found the victim had been slapped on her face by the husband with red marks present.  She reported the husband had also threatened her while she was leaving and then heard the gunshots.

Deputies then made contact with the husband, identified as 32 year old TRAVIS DUSTIN NIBLER.   He was taken into custody on domestic violence charges and taken to the Detention Center.  According to the report, there was a 2 year old child and a 10 month old child inside the residence when the incident occurred.  The follow-up investigation found evidence of a bullet having struck the car that the victim had been in before she had run to the neighbors’ residence to summon help.  Investigators seized several firearms as evidentiary items.

TRAVIS DUSTIN NIBLER has been charged with:

Aggravated Assault on a Family or Household Member – Felony
Domestic Battery 3rd Degree – Misdemeanor

He remains in custody in the Detention Center in lieu of $25,000 bond, with an appearance set for today in Baxter County Circuit Court.
