ADDITIONAL CHARGES FILED TODAY AGAINST STEPHAN WHAPLES

Following his apprehension yesterday in Izard County, STEPHAN R. WHAPLES has now been charged by warrant with several additional crimes involving break-ins, thefts, and fleeing.
WHAPLES has now been charged with his fourth (4th) Fleeing offense for running from Norfork Police Chief Jim Griffin on July 17th. Investigators also charged WHAPLES with Breaking or Entering and Theft of Property based upon a complaint from 245 Major Street in Norfork indicating a stereo was stolen from a vehicle, which stereo was later found in WHAPLES’ vehicle.
Sheriff’s Investigators have also charged STEPHAN WHAPLES additionally with several offenses involving break-ins at Patrick’s R.V. and Boat Storage on Highway 5 South of Mountain Home. These break-ins were reported between July 9th and July 20th. Stolen items included a custom boat cover, stereo systems, fuel tanks, plastic storage bins, and other items. Some of these items were also found inside WHAPLES’ vehicle. There was also damage reported to a travel trailer door where forced entry was attempted.
Additional charges that have been filed against WHAPLES are:
Breaking or Entering (6 counts) – Felonies
Theft of Property (6 counts) – Misdemeanors
Criminal Mischief in the First Degree – Misdemeanor
Criminal Trespass – Misdemeanor
Fleeing from Officer – Misdemeanor
STEPHAN R. WHAPLES continues to be held without bond in the Baxter County Detention Center pending court appearances.
