July 14th at approximately 12:15 pm, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a theft that had just occurred at the Norfork Tout Dock. An Arkansas Game and Fish Officer had been notified by the owner of the Trout Dock that four individuals had just left without paying for a cabin rental.
While Deputies were en-route to the call, Arkansas Game and Fish Corporal Chris Majors, located the suspects at the Y-Store in Salesville. The suspects claimed they had forgotten to pay and were escorted back to the Trout Dock. One of the suspects, Christina Babbs wrote a check to cover for the cost of the room, however it was discovered there were insufficient funds in the account and when questioned she admitted she did not have the funds in the account.
During the investigation, it was discovered there were numerous items in the vehicle that had been taken from the cabin. These consisted of blankets, towels, a windbreaker, kitchen utensils and numerous decorations. All of the items were recovered from their vehicle. The investigation also revealed that Babbs had also written checks to two other businesses in Salesville and Norfork even though she did not have the funds to cover the checks.
All four suspects were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Baxter County Detention Center. They were booked in and charged with:
