Mobile Home Park Damaged by Storm
March 20, 2012 at approximately 6:13 pm, Baxter County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to several 911 calls of damage to mobile homes at the Country Life Mobile Home Park located on Highway 5 North, in Midway, Arkansas. The damage had been caused by a fast moving storm that went through Baxter County. The initial calls stated there were people trapped in some of the damaged mobile homes.
Deputies along with Rescue Personnel from the Midway Volunteer Fire Department arrived and began evacuating residents from the damaged homes. All residents were accounted for and there were no reported injuries.
After the preliminary evaluation it appears that seven (7) mobile homes sustained heavy damage. One (1) mobile home had overturned with three (3) other mobile home shaving trees on them collapsing their roofs. It appears, unofficially that the damage was caused by straight line winds.
The American Red Cross and Salvation Army are currently on scene helping to provide food and shelter to the residents who were displaced. The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office has blocked off the area and have set up security at the Mobile Home Park.
Sheriff’s Deputies were also assisted by the Arkansas State Police, the Arkansas Highway Police and the Baxter County Office of Emergency Services.
