GOOD TURN OUT FOR POLAR PLUNGE ON SATURDAY
02/27/2012
UPDATE: After all receipts were counted and finalized this afternoon, we actually collected $7,353.00 in donations and sponsorships from the POLAR PLUNGE.
There was a large turn out for this year's POLAR PLUNGE held this past Saturday, February 25th at Henderson Park on Lake Norfork. There were 58 plungers who braved the 45 degree water and windy conditions, as well as many spectators cheering them on. The Baxter County Sheriff's Office Team, called the "OZARK MOUNTAIN SMOKEY BEARS", was the largest group of plungers to participate on Saturday.
Over $5,000 was raised, all of which goes to Special Olympics of Arkansas to help pay for the training and sporting events for their athletes. Although we didn't not meet our fundraising goal, we are most appreciative of the community and public support. It was great fun for everyone who came, and we look forward to more upcoming fundraising events for Special Olympics.
