CO-DEFENDANT ARRESTED IN BREAK INS AT MH MINI STORAGE
08/29/2011
Joey Chapa
A Co-Defendant to Stephen Berkhahn has now been arrested on multiple charges of Breaking or Entering and Theft of Property. Joey David Chapa, 35 years old of rural Mountain Home, was served on Thursday evening, August 25th, with warrants for his arrest on those charges and has been held in the Baxter County Detention Center since then.
These charges stem from investigations into the break-in of several storage buildings at Mountain Home Mini Storage and the theft of items from there during the past several weeks. Evidence indicated that Chapa was involved in those break-ins and was also involved in the receipt of items stolen from Darr’s RV Park, and that he later sold one or more of those items to a third party.
Investigators later served a search warrant at Joey Chapa’s residence and found drug paraphernalia of the type used to consume methamphetamine. Warrants for Chapa’s arrest were then procured from the courts.
JOEY DAVID CHAPA has been charged in these incidents with:
Breaking or Entering (12 counts) – Class D Felonies
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Class D Felony
Theft by Receiving – Class A Misdemeanor
Chapa is being held in lieu of $130,000 bond on these charges, as well as on previous unrelated city charges of Burglary, Theft, and Felon in Possession of Firearms charges. He is scheduled to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court on September 1st.
