08/25/2011

                 Michael Berkhahn

A rural Mountain Home man, 28 year old Steven Michael Berkhahn, is in custody at the Baxter County Detention Center on a multitude of Residential Burglary, Breaking or Entering, and Theft of Property charges from more than two dozen incidents reported and investigated since June, 2011.

The Sheriff’s Office had taken multiple complaints of break-ins at area RV parks and mini-storage units throughout the county.  These included the following locations:

Mountain Home Mini Storage
Darrr’s RV Park
Gerry’s RV storage
Coverall Boat and RV Storage
B & H RV Storage

Items stolen during these break-ins consisted primarily of flat screen TVs and cash.  Investigators were able to develop suspects in these incidents, including Steven Michael Berkhahn.  During an interview, Berkhahn confessed his involvement to Sheriff’s Investigators.  Evidence indicated that at least some of the stolen TVs were sold or traded for drugs.  The suspects found nothing of value to steal at some of the locations that were broken into.

Sheriff’s Investigator Michael Day obtained a warrant for the arrest of Steven Berkhahn, who has been charged with:
Residential Burglary (32 counts) – Class B Felonies
Breaking or Entering (15 counts) – Class D Felonies
Theft of Property (9 counts) – Class A Misdemeanors

     Berkhahn
is in custody in lieu of $30,000 bond, with a court date set for today, August 25th.

An arrest warrant has also been obtained for a co-defendant but it has not yet been served.

Baxter County Sheriff
