MAN ARRESTED ON BURGLARY AND THEFT CHARGES IN TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS

Chad A. McDaniel, Jr., 20 years old of Midway, Arkansas is in custody at the Baxter County Detention Center after being charged with Residential Burglary and Theft charges from two separate incidents.

On April 19, 2011, Sheriff’s Corporal George Edings responded to a report of a home that had been burglarized and ransacked on Nubbin Ridge Road in Lakeview. Items missing included a Wii game console, Wii games, prescription medications, electronics, jewelry, coins, and other items with a collective value exceeding $5,000. Chad McDaniel was later developed as a suspect and subsequently confessed to the crime. The majority of the stolen items were recovered.

On August 13, 2011, Sheriff’s Deputy Tracy Munson responded to a burglary complaint at a residence on Homestead Lane near Gassville. Two persons had gained access to the residence by forcing open the back door. Stolen were a lap top computer valued at approximately $600 and about $10 in loose change. A witness observed the crime taking place and attempted to detain one of the two suspects, later identified as Chad McDaniel. A struggle ensued and one of the witnesses was struck in the face by a pistol, with the suspects then managing to escape.

Sheriff’s Lieutenant Terry Johnson and Investigator Drayton McDaniel procured warrants for the arrest of Chad McDaniel, and he was taken into custody today pursuant to the warrants.

Chad McDaniel is charged with:

Aggravated Residential Burglary – Class Y Felony
Residential Burglary – Class B Felony
Theft of Property – Felony
Theft of Property – Misdemeanor

Chad McDaniel is being held in lieu of $20,000 bond with an appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court set for September 1st.

A Co-Defendant, Tyler L. Ackroyd, has also been charged in connection with the August 13th burglary on Homestead Lane as well as charges from two other un-related incidents (see separate press release).
