Cotter Man Charged with Commercial Burglary

A Cotter man has been charged with Commercial Burglary after an investigation into checks being stolen from a business at 4256 Hwy 62 West. On August 4th, the business owner contacted the Sheriff’s Office to report that someone had entered into his business and stole several blank checks. The victim was unaware of the checks having been stolen until another business where the checks had been forged and cashed alerted him to this activity.
Sheriff’s Investigators and the Gassville Police Department developed a suspect in the crime. This suspect, Matthew E. Tillery, was interviewed on August 11th and admitted to entering the business and having checks belonging to the business. Tillery had solicited other persons to use or cash the checks at area businesses.
Matthew E. Tillery, 27 years old of Cotter, Arkansas, was charged by the Sheriff’s Office with:
Commercial Burglary – Felony
Tillery is in the Baxter County Detention Center on this and previous charges. His bond on the burglary charge is $25,000, and he is scheduled to make an appearance in Circuit Court on August 18th on that charge.
