NORFORK AREA MAN ARRESTED AFTER DRUG PRECURSERS AND POSSIBLE EXPLOSIVE FOUND AT RESIDENCE
11/13/2010
Formal felony charges are pending against a rural Norfork area man after he was arrested this afternoon by Sheriff's Deputies following a complaint of possible drug activity at a residence on Windswept Trail.
James Lynn Davis is being held in the Baxter County Detention Center after deputies conducted a search of an outbuilding on the property at approximately 2:00 PM and found precursers used in the manufacture of methamphetamine and also an object that appeared to be some kind of explosive device in the form of a "pipe bomb". Authorities believe at this time that the explosive device is incomplete and inert, but that has not been conclusively verified.
The Baxter County Office of Emergency Management and the Arkansas State Police Bomb Squad from Little Rock were notified and are either on scene or responding to the scene to examine the device and decide upon its method of removal and disposal. The Norfork Police Department was also involved in the initial complaint.
James Lynn Davis, 40 years old of rural Norfork, is currently being held with no bail until official charges are decided upon. The investigation is continuing, and additional details will be made public at a later time. Sheriff's personnel remain on scene for the time being, but there is no danger to anyone else living in the general area from this device.
