Female Suspect From Surveillance Photo Turns Herself In To Authorities

11/20/2009

The second shoplifting suspect that had been posted from a surveillance photo was arrested this evening after she turned herself into Baxter County Authorities.

Less than twenty-four hours after the photographs of unknown suspects in a shoplifting case from Warehouse Liquor store were posted on the Sheriff's Office web site and Facebook, both suspects have been identified and arrested.

Soon after the photographs appeared, the Sheriff's Office began receiving tips from members of the public as to the identity these two suspects. Sheriff's Investigators began trying to find these persons this morning, and the male suspect, David Monroe Corbin, was arrested and taken into custody early this afternoon. The female suspect, identified as Candace Lynn Ruth, turned herself in late this afternoon.

Candace Lynn Ruth, 20 years old of Mountain Home, was booked into the Detention Center on a misdemeanor charge of Shoplifting. She was released from custody at approximately 11 pm, after posting a bond in the amount of $470.00. She is scheduled to appear in District Court on December 3rd.

The rapid identification of these suspects based on citizen tips derived from the web site and Facebook publications is another example of what can be achieved when technology is used to bring law enforcement and the public together to solve crime. The Sheriff's Office appreciates the interest the public has shown in helping with these investigations.
