BODY OF MISSING MOUNTAIN HOME MAN FOUND AT DEER STAND NEAR ROBINSON POINT

10/14/2009

While responding to a possible missing person complaint at approximately 8:51 AM today, Baxter County Sheriff’s Deputies discovered the body of a 71 year old Mountain Home man in the woods near the Robinson Point area of Lake Norfork.

The U. S. Army Corp of Engineers Park Rangers received a report from a concerned person that a vehicle and boat trailer had been parked unattended at the Robinson Point campground for three (3) days.  The Sheriff’s Office was alerted, and Corporal James Tilley was assigned to respond to the location and investigate.  The registered owner of the vehicle, Mr. Tedrick Proctor, was believed to reside on Leonard Drive in Mountain Home.  Officers spoke with neighbors of Mr. Proctor and learned that he had left his residence in Mountain Home this past Saturday afternoon to go deer hunting, and that he took a boat with him.  A description of the boat was obtained from the neighbors as well.

Officers from the Sheriff’s Office, U. S. Army Corp of Engineers, and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission began searching the area.  The Sheriff’s Office helicopter was launched at 10:41 AM to assist with the search.  At approximately 11:20 AM, officers in the helicopter spotted the boat from the air along the shoreline not far from the Robinson Point Area.  A tent and deer blind were also spotted from the air.  Officers walked to the area in foot.  They found Mr. Proctor at the deer stand, and he was deceased.  It is believed that Mr. Tedrick Proctor passed away of natural causes.  The Baxter County Coroner’s Office came to the location and removed the body.  The investigation is being handled by the Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas Game and Fish Wildlife Officers.  No foul play is suspected at this time.
