PUBLIC ASSISTANCE SOUGHT IN INVESTIGATION OF THEFT
04/20/2023
The Baxter County Sheriff's Office is asking for assistance from the public regarding an investigation into a crime that took place at the intersection of State Highway 5 North and Canvasback Drive.
Sometime between 10:00 AM Saturday morning April 15th and 11:30 AM Sunday morning, April 16th, someone entered a construction work site where clearing of brush and trees had been ongoing, gained unauthorized access to heavy equipment parked there, and then used that equipment to steal forty 20 ft long oak logs that had been stacked in the area for later transfer to a wood vendor to be processed. One piece of equipment was damaged as well.
There was a bull dozer, a Caterpillar track-hoe, and a heavy duty trailer parked at this location. Once the crime had been discovered, Sheriff's Investigators responded to the scene. They collected evidence from the crime scene and have heard from one witness who has provided some information. Additional witnesses are being sought.
If anyone has any knowledge of this crime or persons involved in it, we would ask that you please contact Sergeant Scott Thrasher, Criminal Investigation Division, and provide that information. Contact information is: Phone (870) 425-7000; Email [email protected]; Tip Line (870) 424-4636.
As always, we sincerely appreciate any and all assistance given.
