03/06/2023

James Addison Rorex, III

JAMES ADDISON ROREX, III, 37 years old of Norfork, has been arrested following an investigation into an incident that occurred February 28th.

At approximately 9:05 PM on February 28th, the Sheriff's Office responded to an address on Mercedes Loop in Salesville, Arkansas regarding a neighbor who heard gunshots.  While deputies were enroute to the location, a second call was received indicating that JAMES ROREX came to the residence, got into a verbal altercation, and then shot a firearm at the residence with people inside.

On arrival, deputies made contact with persons there.  Deputies were advised that ROREX had been told to stay away from the property in the past.  ROREX came to the residence and was outside yelling at people inside.  ROREX was again told to leave.  The occupants of the house were watching ROREX through the windows.  One of the occupants was a child.  They heard what they described as "pop" sounds and took cover.  ROREX fled the scene before deputies arrived.

Deputies found two holes on the outside of the residence close to the window the victims had been looking out of when the shots were fired.  Inside the master bedroom, one of the bullets penetrated the bedroom wall and was found on the bed.  This was collected and taken into evidence.  None of the occupants of the residence were injured.

Deputies went to a residence in Norfork where ROREX was believed to reside.  While approaching the residence, deputies observed a Smith and Wesson .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun on the walkway.  It was also collected and taken into evidence.  Deputies were not able to make any contact with ROREX on the evening of the incident.

On March 3rd, the Norfork Police Chief located ROREX and took him into custody on Baxter County charges.

JAMES ADDISON ROREX, III was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center on the afternoon of March 3rd on charges of:

Committing a Terroristic Act - Felony
Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm from a Vehicle - Felony
Aggravated Assault (3 counts) - Felonies

JAMEX ROREX remains in custody in lieu of $75,000 bond.  He will appear before the Circuit Court to answer on March 6th.
