A woman from Lawrence, Kansas, 32 year old TIFFANY ARLENE JONES, was arrested on numerous charges late this afternoon following a high speed vehicle pursuit that began in the Midway area and ended in Mountain Home.
At approximately 3:48 PM today, the Sheriff's Office was notified that a female had entered uninvited into a private residence on River Road in Lakeview, then went outside and got into a pickup truck belonging to the home owner. When one of the residents of the home confronted this woman, later identified as TIFFANY JONES, as to who she was and asked what she was doing, JONES replied "I'm taking my truck back".
JONES then stole the truck, a 2019 GMC, and left the residence in it. Sheriff's deputies were alerted of the incident by radio and began searching for the stolen vehicle. Two loaded rifles were also in the truck when it was stolen by JONES. A short time later, Sheriff's Deputy Selena Harris spotted the stolen pickup truck in Midway as it was turning on State Highway 126 to go toward Gassville. Deputy Harris attempted to initiate a vehicle stop. The driver (JONES) refused to stop and accelerated toward Gassville at high speed. JONES arrived at Gassville, and she then turned left to go East on U. S. Highway 62/412 from Gassville toward Mountain Home. JONES was driving at very high speed and was driving in all traffic lanes. Additional deputies joined the pursuit.
When JONES came into Mountain Home, she had to stop at the intersection of U. S. Highway 62/412 Bypass and U. S. Highway 62B. Deputies attempted to block her path there. At this point, JONES drove into a Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle, causing damage to it, and then sped away on U. S. Highway 62 B into the heart of Mountain Home, with deputies continuing to pursue.
Near the intersection of U. S. Highway 62B and Sixth Street, deputies were able to block JONES and end the pursuit. As deputies were taking JONES into custody, she physically and actively resisted the arrest. During the arrest, Deputy Harris sustained injuries to her hand and went to the Baxter Regional Medical Center for examination.
TIFFANY JONES was then taken to the Baxter County Detention Center and booked on charges of:
Residential Burglary - Felony
Theft of Property (3 counts) - Felonies
Battery in the Second Degree on an Officer - Felony
Fleeing by Vehicle - Felony
Aggravated Assault - Felony
Reckless Driving - Misdemeanor
Resisting Arrest - Misdemeanor
A probable cause affidavit was submitted to a Circuit Judge, and JONES is being held in lieu of $75,000 bond. She will appear before the Baxter County Circuit Court to answer at a later date. TIFFANY JONES apparently just arrived in this area within the last two days to help someone move, and she has no ties to the Twin Lakes area.
Agencies assisting at various times during the pursuit were the Lakeview Police Department, Gassville Police Department, Arkansas State Police, Mountain Home Police Department, and Arkansas State Parks Law Enforcement.
