A Calico Rock man, 28 year old JAMIE LEE SOUTHARD, having multiple outstanding arrest warrants, was taken into custody Sunday evening, July 26th, on both the warrants and on several drug-related charges.
Sheriff's Deputies Craig Kocka and Bill Killion had been dispatched to an address on Jordan Road at approximately 7:00 PM to assist a bail bond recovery agent. While at that residence, the agent informed the deputies that there was a red Pontiac G5 vehicle at the residence approximately 10 minutes prior to the arrival of the deputies. While deputies and the bail bond agent attempted to contact the person inside the residence they were trying to find, they observed this same red Pontiac G5 drive past.
The deputies returned to the patrol vehicle and followed the Pontiac. It turned on a private drive and pulled up to a closed privacy gate. At this point, deputies made contact with the occupants of the vehicle. JAMIE SOUTHARD was identified as the driver. There were three other people inside the vehicle as well.
Deputies detected a strong odor of burned marijuana coming from the vehicle. All occupants were removed from the vehicle. SOUTHARD was found to have marijuana (approximately 5.6 grams) and a marijuana pipe on his person. Further searching uncovered a pair of brass knuckles on SOUTHARD, as well as two containers holding methamphetamine (approximately 4.5 grams). While SOUTHARD was being cuffed and arrested, he informed deputies that he had a pistol on his person toward the small of his back. This turned out to be a fully loaded Phoenix Arms .22 caliber pistol. This was also seized and taken into evidence. The other passengers were also searched but nothing was found on them.
JAMIE LEE SOUTHARD was transported to the Baxter County Detention Center and was booked on charges of:
Revocation Bench Warrants (4 counts) - Felonies
Failure to Appear Warrants (2 counts) - Misdemeanors
Possession of Controlled Substance (Meth) with Purpose of Delivery - Felony
Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance with Purpose of Delivery - Felony
Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms - Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts) - Felonies
Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons (convicted felon) - Felony
Probation Violation - Felony
SOUTHARD remains in custody in lieu of $25,000 bond on the drug and weapons charges, but is being held without bond on the warrants and probation violation. He will appear before the Circuit Court to answer on August 6th.
