MIKA SEAY |
A shooting incident being investigated by the Sheriff's Office has resulted in the arrest of Jordan woman on Attempted Murder and Domestic Battery charges.
In the early morning hours of May 23rd the Sheriff's Office was notified that a man had been shot in the face and was being transported to the convenience store at the "Y" in Salesville to meet an ambulance. Emergency medical personnel responded, as did Sheriff's Deputies. The victim was subsequently taken by ambulance to Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home. A Sheriff's Investigator spoke briefly with the man at BRMC before he was transferred to a hospital in Springfield, Missouri for further treatment. The victim told the Investigator that the shooting was accidental and that he did himself. There had apparently been some sort of incident between the victim and the suspect earlier in the evening involving wrestling or horse play.
However, two eyewitnesses were interviewed and gave statements on the record. Both witnesses indicated that the victim and his ex-wife, 36 year old MIKA D. SEAY of Jordan, and they all got into a truck to leave the residence. The victim was driving, and MIKA SEAY was seated behind him. The two witnesses were seated elsewhere in the vehicle. One witness stated that the victim turned around to say something to his ex-wife, MIKA SEAY, and she pulled a handgun from her waistband and shot him in the face. The victim was still conscious and mobile, and he asked to be taken to the hospital. One of the witnesses then drove the victim to Salesville to meet up with EMS.
A search warrant was served at the residence Sunday afternoon. The gun used in the shooting was recovered from the residence and taken into evidence. The Investigator conferred with the Prosecuting Attorney, who decided to charge MIKA SEAY with one count of Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder in the First Degree and one count of Domestic Battery in the First Degree, both serious felony crimes. A probable cause affidavit was presented to a Circuit Judge, who determined there to be probable cause to arrest MIKA SEAY for the charges indicated. MIKA SEAY surrendered herself at the Baxter County Detention Center Wednesday evening, May 27th, and she was booked on those two charges. She had a bond of $100,000, which she posted and was released from custody. MIKA SEAY may appear before the Circuit Court for a first appearance on these charges as early as today, May 28th.
