Two people were arrested Tuesday afternoon, January 21st, when deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at an address on State Highway 178 West in the Midway area. The Sheriff's Office received a report from a third party that a woman had been battered and was being kept from leaving the residence by her boyfriend.
Deputies arrived and made contact with both parties. Deputies observed evidence of minor injury to the female, which she attributed to being caused by the boyfriend. She also alleged that when she tried to call 9-1-1 for help he took the phone away from her.
Deputies arrested 35 year old WILLIAM S. MALONE at the residence on Domestic Battery and other charges. One of the deputies transported MALONE to the Detention Center, while the other deputy stayed behind to take statements. While inside the home taking statements, the deputy stepped on something on the floor. This was found to be a prescription pill bottle with a glass smoking pipe attached to it. The bottle and the pipe contained what appeared to be methamphetamine residue on them. A small amount of methamphetamine was then found in a box nearby. The female was also then arrested as well on the drug charges and taken to the Detention Center.
WILLIAM S. MALONE, 35 years old of Midway, is charged with:
Possession of Controlled Substance (methamphetamine) - Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Felony
Domestic Battery in the Third Degree - Misdemeanor

MALONE posted $5,000 bond and was released from custody with a court date of January 23rd in Baxter County Circuit Court. He was also issued a No Contact Order to prevent him from returning to the residence or from having any contact with the female.
ALEXANDRIA NELL HOFFMAN, 32 years old of Midway, is charged with:
Possession of Controlled Substance (methamphetamine) - Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Felony
