WEEKEND ARREST MADE ON FELONY BATTERY CASE

The Sheriff’s Office has arrested 36 year old CARLOS N. RAMIREZ, residing at Promise Land, on a felony battery charge after responding to an incident Saturday evening, August 30th.
At approximately 11:30 PM, deputies were dispatched to 561 CR 502 in the Promise Land area for a reported stabbing. On arrival, deputies found a man who had been stabbed in the arm and was bleeding profusely from an artery. He was being attended to by a female who had been in the home when the stabbing occurred.
The suspect, CARLOS N. RAMIREZ, was located and detained at the scene. The victim stated he and the suspect had been consuming alcohol throughout the evening. RAMIREZ allegedly became violent at one point, and an altercation ensued between the two of them. During the altercation, RAMIREZ allegedly stabbed the victim with a knife, causing serious injury.
The victim was transported to Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home for emergency care. CARLOS RAMIREZ was arrested and taken into custody. He claimed he had been defending himself. Deputies could not find the knife that had been used. The female at the house told deputies that RAMIREZ said to her that he had hurt the victim and that he was “going to get into trouble”.
CARLOS RAMIREZ was transported to the Baxter County Detention Center and booked on a felony charge of:
Battery in the First Degree – Felony
He has a bond of $50,000 on that charge and will appear before the Circuit Court to answer on September 5th. RAMIREZ also has a detainer placed on him by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) as a removable foreign alien. Documentation indicates that RAMIREZ has been booked into the Baxter County Detention Center on two previous occasions since 2015 for misdemeanor domestic violence and drug offenses.
