A rural Baxter County man was arrested Monday afternoon, June 3rd, on a multitude of charges that arose from an incident of domestic violence reported at 6867 CR 74.

At approximately 2:09 PM, the Sheriff’s Office received a report that 56 year old MARK RAYMOND FIDLER was at that address in violation of an active No Contact Order that prohibited him from being there.  When deputies arrived on scene they found that MARK FIDLER had already left the residence.  They spoke with a female victim who related that she and MARK FIDLER had been engaged in an argument over money, and she alleged that MARK FIDLER shoved her and hit her on the side of her head and face causing injury.  The victim went into the bedroom and called 9-1-1 for help.

After searching the area in an effort to find MARK FIDLER, Sgt. Brian Davis located him at approximately 4:01 PM on a vehicle traveling on Baxter CR 73.  Sgt. Davis activated his emergency lights and attempted to make a traffic stop.  FIDLER refused to stop and was driving erratically.  FIDLER continued for approximately 2 miles at slow speed refusing to stop.  Near the 6000 block on Baxter CR 73 FIDLER finally stopped, then put his vehicle in reverse and acted as if he were about to back up into Sgt. Davis’ patrol car.  FIDLER then began driving again and turned on to Baxter CR 74, then stopped again and his vehicle died.  At this time, Sgt. Davis approached the driver side door and confronted FIDLERFIDLER refused to comply with instructions from Sgt. Davis.  Sgt. Davis then employed a TASER device on FIDLER and was able to get him handcuffed.

FIDLER was acting incoherently and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.  During a search of the vehicle that FIDLER was driving deputies located a Norinco SKS 7.62x39 rifle in the front seat with a 30 round magazine containing 14 rounds.  The gun had a round in the chamber.  FIDLER was found to be on felony probation with a previous felony arrest for Domestic Battery and thus prohibited from possessing a firearm.  The rifle was seized and taken into evidence..

MARK FIDLER was transported to the Baxter County Detention Center and booked on charges of:

Possession of Firearm by Certain Persons (convicted felon) – Felony
