FORMER BRIARCLIFF CITY EMPLOYEE ARRESTED FOR THEFT OF PUBLIC FUNDS

A former employee of the City of Briarcliff, 40 year old TERI JEAN BUEGE of Mountain Home, was arrested Monday, September 17th, on forgery and theft charges for stealing public funds from Briarcliff.
The Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from the Briarcliff City Treasurer alleging that a theft of city funds had occurred and named TERI BUEGE as the suspect. BUEGE had already been terminated from her employment with the City of Briarcliff.
It was alleged that between December 1, 2017 and July 3, 2018, approximately $1,327.87 in public funds was missing from the water department account. These included several deposits for which cash was missing, cash payments received but not recorded or deposited, at least one forged check, and the falsification of city records.
TERI JEAN BUEGE was interviewed by Sheriff’s Investigators on August 15th, during which time she admitted to all of the allegations made against her. A warrant was then obtained for her arrest, and she was booked into the Detention Center yesterday on charges of:
Forgery – Felony
Theft of Property – Felony
TERI BUEGE was released from custody after posting $7,500 bond. She will appear before the Circuit Court to answer on September 27th.
