APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR TRANSPORT DEPUTY

The Sheriff's Office is accepting applications from persons already certified as full time law enforcement officers for the full time position of Transport Deputy - Detention Center Division.
Applicants must have current certification from the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training (CLEST) as a full time law enforcement officer or possess out of state equivalency that will be accepted and recognized by CLEST.
The Transport Deputy will work out of the Detention Center and will be supervised by the Jail Administrator and Jail Sergeant. The position will be responsible for transportation of inmates both in state and out of state. These include transports to and from court, transports to and from the Arkansas Department of Corrections, extraditions on warrants, transports to medical and dental appointments, and for mental health commitment proceedings. The position will also be responsible for the coordinating and overseeing jail inmate community service work details.
Irregular work hours and after-hours call outs for transports will be required as needed.
In addition to primary transportation duties, the position may be called upon to perform any and all other duties that are generally and customarily performed by law enforcement officers in full service agencies. These include making arrests, conducting searches, responding to or assisting with complaint calls or calls for service, writing reports and affidavits, serving warrants, court security, and etc. A complete job description is available on request from the Sheriff's Administration Offices.
The wages for the position range from $12.14 to $15.39 per hour under Baxter County's grade and step chart, dependent upon prior experience and training. Full county benefits are applicable. These include paid vacation, paid sick time, paid health insurance, and retirement plan benefits.
