PROBATION COMPLIANCE CHECKS NETS TWO ARRESTS

Two people were arrested by Sheriff’s Investigators Wednesday morning, February 21st, when assisting officers with the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections on a probation compliance check at a residence on Reds Landing Trail, the residence of 44 year old VIRGINIA RUTH BURCH and 42 year old RICHARD TERRY BEARDEN. BURCH and BEARDEN are both on probation.
During the course of the compliance check, officers found drugs and various items of drug paraphernalia. These included a smoking device containing approximately 14.8 grams of a liquid substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. A set of digital scales and other articles of paraphernalia associated with the use or delivery of controlled substances were also found.
VIRGINIA BURCH and RICHARD BEARDEN were arrested and taken into custody on drug charges. They were booked into the Detention Center. They each face charges of:
Possession of Controlled Substance with Purpose to Deliver (meth) – Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Misdemeanor
Probation Violation – Felony
They each have a bond of $7,500 on the drug charges, for which they were scheduled to appear today in Circuit Court to answer. There is also a no bond hold on the probation violation charges.
