MAN ARRESTED AFTER SWINGING A HATCHET AT DEPUTIES

12/22/2017

Nykola Kotyk, Jr.

Deputies arrested 53 year old NYKOLA KOTYK, JR. of rural Mountain Home this morning after responding to a disturbance call on Baxter CR 420 at 7:36 AM.  Upon arrival at the residence, deputies made contact with NYKOLA KOTYK in the front yard.  He was screaming and cursing loudly.  He refused to calm down so that deputies could speak with him. KOTYK was alleging that his neighbor had “electrified his house, had a force field around it, and had implanted a chip and bugs into his body.”

Deputies attempted to arrest NYKOLA KOTYK for Disorderly Conduct.  He refused to comply with orders of the deputies and initially approached them in an aggressive manner.  He then turned away from deputies and moved toward the door of his house to get away.  When he reached the steps, KOTYK reached down and picked up an object that was initially thought to be a hammer.  It was later found to be a hatchet. KOTYK began swinging the hatchet at deputies.  Deputies used a TASER device to stop KOTYK. He was then taken into custody and transported to the Detention Center.

NYKOLA KOTYK is being held in custody on charges of:

Aggravated Assault – Felony
Criminal Use of Prohibited Weapon – Felony
Resisting Arrest – Misdemeanor
Fleeing – Misdemeanor
Disorderly Conduct – Misdemeanor

He has a bond of $20,000 and will appear in Circuit Court to answer on January 11, 2018.
