DEPUTIES RESPONDED TO SHOOTING INCIDENT THURSDAY EVENING
11/24/2017
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday evening, November 23rd, during a family disturbance.
At approximately 8:50 PM, deputies were dispatched to 765 Baxter CR 29 (a/k/a Buzzard Roost Cutoff) on a report that a man had been shot in the chest at that address. Upon arrival, deputies found that a 26 year old male had been shot once in the chest by a woman with a .22 caliber pistol. He had been shot by the 69 year old female who owns the residence.
The male victim of the shooting was transported to Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home. At last report, he was in good condition. The woman who shot him asserted a self-defense claim when questioned by Sheriff’s Investigators, alleging the male was threatening her and acting in an aggressive manner. She stated this had also occurred in the recent past.
The matter is currently under investigation. No arrests have been made at this time. Investigators will review evidence and witness statements with the Prosecuting Attorney next week to determine what charges, if any, will be filed in this case.
