GASSVILLE MAN ARRESTED ON VARIOUS DRUG CHARGES

A Gassville man, 44 year old MICHAEL JOHN McHUGH, was arrested this morning, October 31st, on several drug charges after Investigators were summoned to a towing company facility.
The towing company owner told Investigators that MICHAEL JOHN McHUGH was at the facility to retrieve a wallet from inside a vehicle that had previously been impounded. When retrieving the wallet from the vehicle, the tow company owner observed what he believed to be controlled substance and notified Investigators.
Upon their arrival at the facility, Investigators determined that McHUGH is a probationer with Arkansas Community Corrections and that there is search waiver for him on file. The wallet was thus searched, and Investigators found approximately 1 gram of marijuana and a small amount of a grey powder substance that tested positive for Fentanyl. Investigators also conducted a search of McHUGH’s person. They found approximately 36 prescription pills of various kinds and a smoking pipe. The pipe contained residue of both marijuana and Fentanyl. All items of contraband were seized and taken into evidence.
MICHAEL JOHN McHUGH was arrested and transported to the Baxter County Detention Center where he was booked on charges of:
Possession Schedule II Controlled Substance with Purpose to Deliver – Felony
Possession of Schedule IV Controlled Substance with Purpose to Deliver – Felony
Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance with Purpose to Deliver – Misdemeanor Possession Drug Paraphernalia – Misdemeanor
Probation Violation – Felony
McHUGH was given a bond of $25,000 on the drug charges, but will be held without bond for the Probation Violation. McHUGH will appear in Baxter County Circuit Court on November 2nd to answer the charges.
