Gary Ronald Hargett

     A Mountain Home area man who is already incarcerated in the Detention Center on other charges has now been charged additionally with Sexual Assault in the Second Degree.  The new charge came about as a result of a joint investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas State Police into an incident that was alleged to have occurred during the summer of 2016.

     The inmate, 30 year old GARY RONALD HARGETT, is alleged to have had sexual contact with a then 15-year old female during that time period.  The incident involved not only personal physical sexual contact between the two but also involved nude images being transmitted.  The incident was reported to investigators in July, 2017.

     Following the investigation, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney filed a charge of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree, a Class B Felony, against GARY HARGETT, and a bench warrant was issued.  The warrant was served yesterday, and HARGETT is scheduled to make an appearance today in Baxter County Circuit Court on this charge.
