MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND SEES DECREASE IN CALLS AND ARRESTS FROM LAST YEAR

     The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office experienced a relatively calm Memorial Day holiday weekend this year. There were 100 complaint calls or calls for service made to the Sheriff’s Office from Friday through Monday.  This represents a 16% decrease from last year during the same period.  There were 21 bookings made into the Baxter County Detention Center by all agencies during this time on various charges.  This represents a 23% decrease from last year.  Some of these bookings were for:

Driving While Intoxicated                               3
Boating While Intoxicated                              1
Possession of Drugs    or Drug Paraphernalia   4
Warrants Served                                           7

    In addition to the Detention Center bookings, Sheriff’s Deputies issued:

Citations for Traffic Violations or Misdemeanors    17  (35% decrease)
Warnings for Traffic Violations                             25  (31% increase)

     The Sheriff’s Office worked jointly with the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers Park Rangers patrolling public campgrounds and public use areas on the North Fork River, Norfork Lake, and Bull Shoals Lake that are within Baxter County.  No serious holiday-related incidents were reported in the unincorporated areas of Baxter County.
