TWO ARRESTED WEDNESDAY DURING HOME SEARCH OF A PROBATIONER

The Sheriff’s Office arrested two people Wednesday afternoon when, in conjunction with officers from the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections, they conducted a probation compliance check at 631 CR 508 near Midway, the residence of probationer 45 year old MIKEL BLAINE SHORT.
During a search of the residence and the surrounding area, approximately 5.6 grams of methamphetamine and some Diazepam pills were found. In addition, a glass smoking device used to consume methamphetamine was found, as was a set of scales and a metal spoon containing pieces of a crystal substance.
CYNTHIA MARIE PIATT, 28 years of age, also resides at the residence. SHORT and PIATT were both arrested and transported to the Detention Center to be booked. A child (age not indicated) lives at the residence as well and had access to the areas containing the drugs and paraphernalia.
MIKEL BLAINE SHORT was booked on charges of:
Possession of Methamphetamine with Purpose to Deliver – Felony
Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance with purpose to Deliver – Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Misdemeanor
Exposure of Child to Methamphetamine – Felony
SHORT was released after posting $50,000 bond. He was scheduled to make an initial appearance today in Baxter County Circuit Court.
CYNTHIA MARIE PIATT was also booked on charges of:
Possession of Methamphetamine with Purpose to Deliver – Felony
Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance with purpose to Deliver – Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Misdemeanor
Exposure of Child to Methamphetamine - Felony
She was also released from custody after posting $50,000 bond. She, as well, was scheduled to make an initial appearance today in Baxter County Circuit Court.
Investigators with the Mountain Home Police, Arkansas State Police, and the 14th Judicial Drug Task Force also participated in the search and arrests.
