A felony charge of Battery in the First Degree has been filed against a Midway man, 23 year old ZACHARY TYLER MCCOLLUM, following an investigation into serious injuries sustained by a three month old baby last year.
Baxter County authorities received a report from Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas indicating that on April 9, 2016 an almost three month old baby had been brought in with multiple rib fractures and a femur fracture that were in the process of healing.
The baby’s father, ZACHARY TYLER MCCOLLUM, was interviewed by the Arkansas State Police on February 7, 2017 about the injuries. MCCOLLUM gave incriminating statements to the investigator. It was determined that the incident that resulted in the injuries to the child had taken place in Midway, Arkansas in Baxter County prior to MCCOLLUM moving to Royce City, Texas with the child.
The Arkansas State Police investigator obtained a bench warrant from Baxter County Circuit Court charging ZACHARY TYLER MCCOLLUM with one count of Battery in the First Degree, a Class Y Felony. MCCOLLUM is currently being held in the Marion County Jail in Yellville on other charges unrelated to this case. MCCOLLUM will have a bond of $100,000 on this charge and will be brought before the Circuit Court at a later date to answer.
