Two persons were arrested by the Sheriff’s Office early Sunday morning, December 4th, during an investigation into a suspicious person and suspicious vehicle complaint call on Baxter CR 30. Sheriff’s Corporal Rockie Morrell responded to the area. The caller indicated there was a man walking in the woods with a flashlight and that he shined it on the caller when the caller drove by. A description and license plate number of a vehicle that was driving down CR 30 at a slow speed in the same location was also provided to dispatchers.
Corporal Morrell observed the vehicle on CR 30 and followed. He initiated a stop on the driver of the vehicle for not using a turn signal at the intersection of CR 30 and U. S. Hwy 62 E. As Corporal Morrell approached the male driver, he observed a small shotgun sitting on top of the rear seating area wrapped in cloth. There was a female passenger inside the vehicle as well. The male driver admitted to having been in the woods with a flashlight.
Corporal Morrell removed the shotgun from the vehicle for further examination and observed it to be a .20 gauge with the barrel sawed off to a length of 16 inches. The shotgun appeared to have grind marks and paint on it. The serial number, make, or model could not be found. Ammunition for the shotgun was found, including expended cartridges.
A further search of the vehicle uncovered a canister in the console area that contained methamphetamine residue.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 31 year old ADAM TYLER MCMACKINS of rural Mountain Home, was arrested and charged with:
Criminal Use of Prohibited Weapon (possess sawed-off shotgun) – Felony
Possession of a Defaced Firearm – Felony

He was booked into the detention center and released later the same morning after posting $7,500 bond. He will appear before the Circuit Court to answer on December 8th.
