The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 7 week old infant who was pronounced dead at Baxter Regional Medical Center after being taken there early this morning from a residence in Parkway Acres in rural Mountain Home.

     The Baxter County Coroner’s Office notified Sheriff’s Investigators of the infant’s death.  Investigators responded to the hospital and spoke with the parents of the child.  Investigators later went to the residence and examined the bedroom area where the infant had been found unresponsive.  The parents had called 911 around 6:00 AM  for emergency medical assistance and began giving CPR while ambulance personnel were responding to the residence.

     The body is being sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office in Little Rock for autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.  No foul play is suspected.
