SECOND ARREST MADE IN STOLEN FIREARMS AND DRUG CASE

UPDATE JUNE 7, 2016:
A second arrest has been made in connection with the cache of firearms and drugs seized during the service of a search warrant on June 1st on Baxter CR 715 that was reported last week.
During a follow-up investigation, Sheriff’s Investigators found it possible to bring charges against a second suspect. LOGAN WADE WALTERS, a 20 year old Midway area resident already on probation for felony charges, is being charged with additional felony crimes related to this seizure.
On June 6th, a Baxter County man identified eight (8) of the firearms seized as having been stolen from his house. Three (3) additional firearms belonging to the victim remain unaccounted for. A large amount of cash was also stolen from the residence.
LOGAN WALTERS, already incarcerated in the Baxter County Detention Center on a probation violation, admitted Monday to Sheriff’s Investigators that he and a juvenile went into the victim’s residence through a downstairs window and stole the items in question. They split the cash, which has since been spent.
LOGAN WALTERS is being charged additionally with:
Residential Burglary – Felony
Theft of Property (2 counts) – Felonies
Breaking or Entering – Felony
WALTERS will have a bond of $50,000 on these new charges, and he will appear in the Baxter County Circuit Court to answer on June 23rd.
ORIGINAL RELEASE JUNE 3, 2016:
The Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 17 year old male juvenile on drug and stolen weapons charges after serving a search warrant Wednesday evening, June 1st.
A citizen tip was received at the Sheriff’s Office indicating that there were stolen guns and marijuana at a residence on Baxter CR 715 in the Gassville area. Additional information was developed that allowed investigators to obtain a warrant to search the residence, and the warrant was subsequently executed.
During the search, authorities found ten (10) various types of firearms, approximately 336 grams of marijuana, and various drug paraphernalia. At least one of the firearms was confirmed as having been stolen from a burglary in the Clarkridge area. The drugs were packaged for delivery. A large assortment of knives was also found.
The 17 year old juvenile was turned over to the custody of Baxter County Juvenile Services with felony charges of Possession of Schedule IV Controlled Substance with Purpose to Deliver and with Theft by Receiving. He was subsequently placed in a juvenile detention facility.
The investigation is continuing.
