A rural Mountain Home man, 43 year old THADEUS JAMES MCBRIDE, was arrested Wednesday evening, March 16th, on felony charges after pointing a handgun in the direction of Sheriff’s Deputies and discharging three rounds in their direction.
Deputies contacted MCBRIDE after receiving a report of a suicidal person at 397 Fieldwood Lane at approximately 6:57 PM. Deputies found MCBRIDE seated outside in a camping chair. As deputies approached him, MCBRIDE raised a handgun and pointed in their direction before placing it against his own right temple.
As deputies attempted to speak with MCBRIDE, he discharged three rounds from the handgun in their direction and then put the gun down on the ground. Sheriff’s Lt. Rick Lucy seized the handgun. Deputies moved to take MCBRIDE into custody and he began threatening them. A TASER was deployed to effectuate the arrest of MCBRIDE.
MCBRIDE was ultimately transported to the Baxter County Detention Center and was booked on felony charges of Criminal Attempt to Commit Battery in the First Degree on the deputies after conferring with the Prosecuting Attorney. MCBRIDE was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
MCBRIDE was released from custody today after posting bond in the amount of $50,000. He will appear in the Circuit Court to answer later this month.
