MAN ARRESTED FOR POSSESSING DRUGS AND COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY

The Sheriff’s Office has arrested 28 year old JONATHAN WILSON ECHOLS of rural Mountain Home on charges related to drug possession and carrying counterfeit currency.
ECHOLS was encountered by Sheriff’s Deputy Rockie Morrell on Tuesday evening, May 26th, on Baxter CR 29 when the deputy stopped to check on persons inside an out of state vehicle that he observed to pull in and park at an address on that roadway. ECHOLS was found to have a suspended driver license and a misdemeanor arrest warrant. When ECHOLS was placed under arrest, the deputy found that ECHOLS was holding a baggie of methamphetamine in his hand. He also had $820 in cash in his possession, which he told the deputy was counterfeit currency.
JONATHAN ECHOLS was taken to the Detention Center on charges of:
Possession of Controlled Substance – Felony
Forgery – Felony
Driving While License Suspended – Misdemeanor
Contempt of Court – Misdemeanor Warrant
ECHOLS is being held in lieu of $20,000 bond, and he will appear in the Circuit Court on May 28th.
An investigation into the counterfeit currency is continuing and additional charges may be filed.
