WOMAN CHARGED WITH THEFT AFTER DEFRAUDING LOCAL BUSINESS

A Mountain Home woman, 33 year old MORGAN KATHLEEN OCHS, was arrested this afternoon and booked into the Detention Center at approximately 2:15 PM on two felony theft charges related to the investigation of a complaint made by Furniture Factory Outlet on September 13, 2013.
MORGAN OCHS was formerly an employee of Furniture Factory Outlet. The General Manager alleged in his complaint that he had uncovered ongoing incidents of theft from the store by MORGAN OCHS and contacted the Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation revealed that between January 15, 2013 and September 14, 2013, there were nineteen (19) incidents whereby MORGAN OCHS engaged in fraudulent transactions involving sales of merchandise and credit card charges at Furniture Factory Outlet, with OCHS receiving approximately $6,000 in sales commissions for which she was not entitled. Total loss to the store in merchandise that left the store without being properly paid for was estimated to be between $37,000 and $50,000. In addition, there was one incident whereby OCHS deposited a check in the amount of $3,457.90 into her own personal bank account that a customer had issued to Furniture Factory Outlet as payment for merchandise.
Sheriff’s Corporal Scott Thrasher obtained a warrant for the arrest of MORGAN KATHLEEN OCHS on charges of:
Theft of Property – Class C Felony
Theft of Property – Class D Felony
OCHS is being held in lieu of $5,000 cash bond, with an appearance in Circuit Court set for February 20th.
