Forgery and theft charges have been filed against a Midway woman, 26 year old ASHLEY NICOLE McFARLAND, following an investigation into missing checks. A local business owner reported to the Sheriff’s Office on May 6th that several of his blank checks were missing.
These checks were subsequently determined to have been made payable to ASHLEY McFARLAND. She endorsed and cashed three of these checks on May 6th and one additional check on May 7th, collectively totaling $1,450.00. McFARLAND is a former employee of the business. Surveillance video at the bank where the checks were cashed indicated McFARLAND to be in the vehicle at the drive up window.
Sheriff’s Investigators obtained a bench warrant for the arrest of ASHLEY McFARLAND. She was taken into custody this afternoon and booked into the Detention Center. She was later released from custody after posting $20,000 bond on charges of:
Forgery (4 counts) – Felonies
Theft of Property (4 counts) – Misdemeanors
She will appear in Circuit Court on June 20th.
