Several criminal charges are being filed against a Mountain Home man, 36 year old CHRISTOPHER RICK, after deputies arrested him Wednesday evening, May 15th, after a brief vehicle pursuit in Norfork.
At approximately 9:44 PM, Sheriff’s Deputy Charles Menschik was dispatched to some mini storage units in Salesville, Arkansas to assist with a report of a suspicious vehicle and persons removing items from lockers. Sheriff’s Sergeant Lee Sanders had already stopped and detained one vehicle that might have been involved, but a second vehicle had left the area traveling South on State Highway 5 toward the City of Norfork. Deputy Menschik was coming North bound on State Highway 5 through Norfork and met the vehicle, which was a white Chevrolet truck.
Deputy Menschik activated lights and siren to attempt to make a stop on this vehicle. The driver accelerated and fled from the deputy, first going South on Highway 5, then turning left on Wolf Street, then right on Major Street before turning into the driveway at 29 Major Street in Norfork. Deputy Menschik was then able to effectuate the arrest of the driver, CHRISTOPHER RICK.
Following the arrest, Deputy Menschik conducted a search of the vehicle. Inside the vehicle Deputy Menschik found drug paraphernalia (pocket scale, 2 marijuana pipes, storage bags), and three (3) 50 mg Vyvanse capsules, which are classified as a schedule II controlled substance.
In the bed of the truck were several items that had been stolen from a mini storage unit in Salesville, including a welding cart and scrap metals valued collectively at approximately $500.
CHRISTOPHER RICK was transported to the Baxter County Detention Center and booked on charges of:
Breaking or Entering – Felony
Theft of Property – Misdemeanor
Possession of Controlled Substance (Schedule II) – Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Felony
Fleeing from Officer – Misdemeanor
CHRISTOPHER RICK is being held in lieu of $7,500 bond, and he is scheduled to appear in Circuit Court on May 23rd.
