SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED FOR FAILURE TO REPORT CORRECT HOME ADDRESS

07/27/2012

Matthias Jones

The Sheriff’s Office has arrested 36 year old MATTHIAS JONES on a felony charge of Violating Sex Offender Registration Requirements.

MATTHIAS JONES is registered with the Sheriff’s Office as a Level 3 Offender (High Risk to re-offend) and was said to be residing at 4000 Highway 62 East.  JONES was convicted on 09/16/194 of Sexual Assault in the First Degree for engaging in intercourse with a 14 year old female.

During a routine residence verification check on July 26th, the Sheriff’s Office determined that JONES was no longer living at that address, but rather he was now residing at a residence at 913 Coley Drive in the City of Mountain Home.  JONES would be prohibited by law from residing at that address due to its close proximity to the Nelson-Wilkes Elementary School.  JONES had never informed the Sheriff’s Office that he was residing on Coley Drive.

Deputies arrested MATTHIAS JONES this afternoon, and he has been incarcerated in the Detention Center in lieu of $15,000 bond.  JONES will appear in Baxter County Circuit Court on August 9th to answer the charge.
