REWARD OFFERED FOR THEFT OF U S FLAG AND DAMAGE TO FLAG POLE AT GALATIA CEMETERY

07/20/2011

On July 18, 2011, it was reported to the Sheriff's Office by a Norfork area woman that a United States Flag had been stolen and flag pole broken at her father's gravesite at the Galatia Cemetery, which is on Highway 5, South of Norfork.  This incident was said to have taken place between July 8th and July 15th.  Other similiar incidents have occurred here in the past.  The monetary value of the loss was estimated at $75.

The Fraternal Order of Police, Mountain Home Lodge No. 45 discussed this incident and agreed at its monthly meeting today to offer a reward in the amount of $400 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this particular theft and vandalism that occurred between those dates.  Members of the F.O.P. Lodge believe this was a very disrespectful and hurtful act, not only to the family, but also to the entire community.  The F.O.P. Lodge and the Sheriff's Office hope the offer of this reward will prompt someone having knowledge of this incident to come forward.

Any person having knowledge or information about this incident of theft and vandalism is asked to contact the Sheriff's Criminal Investigation Division at 870-425-7000 or by email to tjohnson@baxtercountysheriff.com or lwalters@baxtercountysheriff.com
