Phillip William Rasmussen, age 50, walked away from the McCrory Clinic, a non secure facility in McCrory, Arkansas, located in Woodruff County.  McCrory is located approximately 50 miles to the Northwest of West Memphis.

We apologize for the error.

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office has learned that a former Mountain Home man, who was sentenced to the Arkansas Department of Corrections in 2007, has walked away from a non-secured treatment center in West Memphis, Arkansas and is now an absconder.

Phillip William Rasmussen, 50 years old, was sentenced in Baxter County Circuit Court by Judge John Putman on July 12, 2007 to serve a period of confinement in the Arkansas Department of Corrections of 180 months on a felony charge of Battery in the Second Degree.  The charge resulted from an altercation in the Detention Center on January 30, 2007 when Rasmussen attacked another jail inmate, Howard Johnson, causing injuries to him.

Rasmussen had been transferred to the McCoy Clinic in West Memphis, a non-secured facility, and walked away from there around 12:00 noon today.  An absconder warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Since Rasmussen has ties to the Baxter County area, the public is asked to be on the alert for his presence in the area and notify law enforcement if he is seen.  Rasmussen is not considered to be armed, but has been known to display violent tendencies toward others.
