ARREST OF SEX OFFENDER MADE FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER

02/23/2016

Nicholas Shane Carpenter

A sex offender who previously resided in Baxter County has been arrested on an outstanding warrant for Failure to Register. The Sheriff’s Office obtained the arrest warrant in August, 2015 for 26 year old NICHOLAS SHANE CARPENTER, a Level 1 Offender (low risk to re-offend), after it was discovered he was not residing at his registered address in rural Mountain Home.

On August 26, 2015, the Sheriff’s Office assisted the United States Marshal’s Office in doing a compliance check on all local registered sex offenders.  It was during this compliance check that authorities learned CARPENTER was not living at his registered address and was said to have moved to another county without notifying local authorities.

NICHOLAS SHANE CARPENTER was arrested in Greene County, Arkansas on the outstanding Baxter County warrant.  He was picked up in Greene County and transported to the Baxter County Detention Center on the evening of February 22nd and was incarcerated on a felony charge of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.  His bond is $15,000, and he will appear in the Circuit Court to answer on February 24th.
