HOLIDAY WEEKEND IS RELATIVELY CALM FOR DEPUTIES

09/02/2014

Baxter County Sheriff’s Deputies experienced a relatively calm Labor Day holiday weekend this year.

Although complaint calls were up from the last holiday weekend, Independence Day, arrests and jail bookings were down.  There were 116 complaint calls or calls for service made to the Sheriff’s Office from Friday through Monday.  There were 21 bookings made at the Baxter County Detention Center by all agencies during this time covering 41 separate criminal charges.  Bookings for alcohol-related offenses were:

1 Driving While Intoxicated
2 Boating While Intoxicated
1 Minor in Possession of Alcohol

In addition to the Detention Center bookings, Sheriff’s Deputies issued:

18 Citations for Traffic Violations or Criminal Misdemeanors
3   Warnings for Traffic Violations

Deputies took 29 incident/offense reports, although there were no major or serious incidents reported over the holiday.

The Sheriff’s Office worked jointly with U. S. Army Corp of Engineers Park Rangers in patrolling public campgrounds and public use areas on Norfork Lake and Bull Shoals Lake.
