MAN ARRESTED FOR FELONY BATTERY ON HIS CHILD

07/30/2014

David D. Sutterfield

A rural Mountain Home man has been charged with felony battery on a child after the Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into a complaint filed by the child’s grandparent on July 28th.

The grandparent told Sheriff’s Investigators that she picked up the child to spend the night and noticed the child, a 5 year old male, had bruising on his face and neck.  The child’s father, 37 year old DAVID DEWAYNE SUTTERFIELD, was named as the suspect responsible for causing the bruising.

In a later interview at the Sheriff’s Office, DAVID SUTTERFIELD denied causing injury to the child, however he gave several different versions of what had caused the injuries.  Another adult household member finally admitted to the Sheriff’s Office that she had witnessed DAVID SUTTERFIELD grab the child’s face in a manner that would have caused injuries consistent with those sustained by the child, as well as shoving the child down and striking him in the face.

DAVID SUTTERFIELD was arrested and booked into the Detention Center July 29th on a charge of Battery in the Second Degree, a felony.  He is being held in lieu of $25,000 bond, and he will appear in the Circuit Court to answer on July 31st.
